Family Run Holiday Homes
Hello, I’m Sheri and I have the joy of hosting Sugar Loaf Retreats on behalf of my lovely in-laws, Andrew and Sally.
Our holiday homes are nestled in the heart of the Black Mountains and the breathtaking Brecon Beacons – a landscape that’s as rich in history as it is in natural beauty. The barns themselves are over 400 years old, each one lovingly restored to preserve their original charm while offering all the comfort and luxury you'd expect from a 5-star countryside escape.
Sugar Loaf Barn was the first of our retreats, brought back to life by Andrew and his sons with incredible care and craftsmanship. Once a crumbling ruin, it’s now a cosy, welcoming home-away-from-home filled with character – from the original stonework and oak beams to the modern touches that make your stay truly special.
Following its success, Kestrel Barn was restored – a larger space ideal for extended families or friends looking to gather under one roof. Then came our latest addition, The Old Cider Mill, which offers the same blend of rustic charm and contemporary comfort.
Andrew and Sally moved to Abergavenny over 45 years ago to pursue their dream of life on a working sheep farm, and their love for the land and local community is woven into everything we do.
As for me, I moved here five years ago and have been amazed by how much the area has to offer – from buzzing independent shops and cafes to long-loved local favourites. One of the things I love most is heading out for a walk – whether it's a gentle stroll through fields or a more adventurous hike up Sugar Loaf mountain, there's something for everyone just outside the door.
We’re proud of our attention to detail and always aim for our holiday barns to feel warm, welcoming, and a little bit magical.
We can’t wait to welcome you.
With love,
Sheri, Andrew & Sally
Want to get married in the mountains? We also run a sister business, Sugar Loaf Barn wedding venue, where couples celebrate amongst the same views. Our barns are often used for additional accommodation, keeping everyone close and relaxed.
